Community Guidelines

Generally, we’d like to keep this area as open as possible. I didn’t name my cat Holmes for nothing: like Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr., I strongly believe that it’s in the marketplace of ideas where the best arguments can “win” and find some measure of consensus. That said, we do want this space to be productive. How else are we going to reach “Capital T Truth” if the way we talk to one another is degenerative?

So with that, please do your best. Rigorous argument is welcome. But try not to over-identify with your ideas. You are more than the thoughts and arguments in your head. If someone disagrees with you, try to be respectful, without attacking them or their intelligence, and please don’t harass anyone over something as silly as a disagreement.

Also, it feels nannying to say this, but comments that call for violence, doxxing, or that promote spam or pornography are explicitly not allowed.

Now with all of that set aside, let’s build and enjoy a wonderful community!
